Custos focuses on practical ways to strengthen community safety and emergency preparedness. Our work is built around four areas that support one another: medical response, crime prevention, community education and community partnerships.
WHAT WE DO

Crime Prevention

Community safety is not only about responding after something has happened. Custos supports local crime prevention efforts by encouraging cooperation, communication and practical action within communities.
Â
We work alongside residents, neighbourhood groups, businesses and other organisations to strengthen local safety initiatives, improve information sharing and support the prevention and reporting of crime.
Medical Response

Custos supports volunteer responders who are often among the first people available when a medical emergency or traumatic incident occurs.
Â
We help strengthen their ability to provide immediate assistance while professional emergency services are responding through practical training, access to appropriate trauma equipment and ongoing skills development.
Â
This includes supporting community responders with the knowledge, confidence and resources needed to act effectively when every minute matters.

Community education

Knowing what to do in an emergency can make a real difference. Custos provides practical training that gives community members, volunteers, businesses and organisations skills they can use when they are needed.
Â
Training includes first aid, Stop the Bleed, emergency preparedness and community responder training, with an emphasis on practical skills and regular development rather than once-off learning.
Community Partnerships

Safer communities depend on people and organisations working together. Custos builds relationships between volunteers, residents, businesses, community organisations and emergency services to strengthen the wider community response network.
Â
These partnerships can include supporting training programmes, providing equipment and resources, sharing expertise and working together on practical community safety initiatives.
